We have a high street location with our own 'in-house', Independent, 'whole of market' Mortgage Advisers who do not charge broker fees - providing you with a one stop shop. We are current holders of the ESTAS 'Best in Postcode' Award, British Property Awards Winner for Selby and have received an ‘Excellent’ Award in the Best Estate Agents Guide 2026.
2013
JP Harll began in October 2013, when Carol founded the business from the granny annexe at her home, with Charlotte joining a month later. The vision was simple: to create an estate agency that offered Selby a higher standard of service, built on care, integrity and genuine local knowledge.
2014
As the business grew, we moved into our first office space — a first-floor suite at 24 Finkle Street. This marked our shift from an online-only agency to a fully established, high-street presence.
2015
With demand increasing, we expanded into ground-floor premises within the same building, giving us greater visibility and space to welcome clients.
2016
Carol led a complete review of our systems and processes, resulting in JP Harll achieving ISO9001:2015 accreditation. This certification confirmed that our administration systems met the highest recognised standards of quality and efficiency.
2017
Charlotte received the ‘Fundraising Champion’ award for Best Creative Charity Fundraiser from Agents Giving — reflecting our long-standing commitment to community involvement and giving back.
2018
We were honoured to be named ‘Best Single Estate Agency in Yorkshire and Humberside’ by The Property Academy and Rightmove.
This was also the year Charlotte began specialising in photography, allowing us to deliver high-quality property marketing without relying on outsourced photographers — a service enhancement that benefits all our clients.
2019
We invested significantly in the renovation of our Finkle Street premises, restoring the frontage as closely as possible to its original Victorian design. Supporting the conservation and improvement of Selby’s historic town centre remains extremely important to us.
This year also saw the business expand once again, taking over the top floor of the building as we continued to grow.
2020
During the coronavirus pandemic, Carol and Charlotte founded Selby High Street Heroes, an initiative created to support and promote local businesses at a time when community mattered more than ever.
2021
After a challenging year for everyone, we were humbled to receive the Gold Award from the British Property Awards for our area. It was an unexpected but very welcome recognition of the hard work and care we put into supporting our clients.
2022
This was the year we decided to bring JP Harll directly into the community. We created our pop-up tent and began working remotely at village fêtes and bank holiday markets, making it easy in an relaxed manor for people to find us and ask for advice.
We also produced a series of free Support Guides, designed to help anyone facing specific circumstances that might lead to selling a property. These guides remain available on our website and in hard copy at our office.
2023
A milestone year as JP Harll celebrated 10 years in business. We proudly marked a decade of working alongside family members and colleagues from IFO Financial Options, who have been providing fee-free, independent, whole-of-market mortgage advice from our premises for more than 20 years.
We were also awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating in the Best Estate Agents Guide 2025 by Property Academy and OnTheMarket — a highlight for our team.
In addition, we introduced Virtual Tours to enhance the marketing service available to our home sellers.
2024
As the cost-of-living crisis deepened, Carol took proactive steps to support those in need. Working with The Clothing Bank and Selby Council, she arranged for the arrival of the now-well-known green donation bin in the long stay carpark — a small initiative that has made a real difference within the community.
2025
What a year it has been. Within just three months, we were honoured to receive the ESTAS ‘Best in Postcode’ Award, the British Property Award for Selby, and an ‘Excellent’ rating in the Best Estate Agents Guide 2026. These achievements reflect the dedication of our team and the trust our clients place in us.
